Azariah the Prophet

Holy Prophet Azariah, son of Oded, who called King Asa to faithfulness.

The Prophet Azariah, son of Oded, is mentioned in the Second Book of Chronicles. Moved by the Spirit of God he went out to meet King Asa of Judah and exhorted him and the people to seek the Lord and put away idolatry.

The king took courage from his words and renewed the covenant of the people with God.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Azariah the Prophet is commemorated on February 3. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 16 of the civil calendar.
