Baradatos of Syria

Venerable Baradatos, hermit of Antioch.

St. Baradatos lived near Antioch in a tiny stone cell without door or window, and later stood in the open dressed in skins, raising his hands to heaven in unceasing prayer. Theodoret praised his wisdom and understanding.

He reposed in peace in the fifth century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Baradatos of Syria is commemorated on February 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 7 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
