Thalassios and Limnaios

Venerable Thalassios and Limnaios, hermits of Syria.

St. Thalassios lived for many years on a hilltop near Cyrrhus in Syria without any shelter, known for his gentleness and humility. His disciple Limnaios later lived with St. Maron and then in a stone enclosure open to the sky, where he cared for the blind and the poor.

Both are described by Theodoret of Cyrrhus and reposed in peace in the fifth century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Thalassios and Limnaios is commemorated on February 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 7 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
