  Athanasius the Confessor

  Venerable, Αθανάσιος

  St. Athanasius the Confessor was a monk who lived in the time of the iconoclast persecutions, when the emperors made war upon the holy images. For his steadfast veneration of the icons of Christ and His saints he endured affliction and persecution, bearing witness to the Orthodox faith without wavering.

• Martyrs at the Gate of Eugenios

  Saint, Μάρτυρες εν τοις Ευγενίου

  During the reign of the Emperor Arcadius the incorrupt relics of many unnamed martyrs were found buried near the Gate of Eugenios in Constantinople. Miracles of healing took place at their discovery.

• Anthousa and her Twelve Servants

  Holy Woman, Ανθούσα

  St. Anthousa and the twelve servants of her household confessed Christ together and were beheaded. The Synaxaria record only the fact of their martyrdom.

• Thalassios and Limnaios

  St. Thalassios lived for many years on a hilltop near Cyrrhus in Syria without any shelter, known for his gentleness and humility. His disciple Limnaios later lived with St. Maron and then in a stone enclosure open to the sky, where he cared for the blind and the poor.

• Baradatos of Syria

  Venerable, Βαραδάτος

  St. Baradatos lived near Antioch in a tiny stone cell without door or window, and later stood in the open dressed in skins, raising his hands to heaven in unceasing prayer. Theodoret praised his wisdom and understanding.

• Telesphoros of Rome

  Hierarch, Τελεσφόρος

  St. Telesphoros was a Greek who became the seventh Bishop of Rome in the second century. Tradition attributes to him the establishment of the Lenten fast before Pascha.

• Ariston of Arsinoe

  Hierarch, Αρίστων Αρσινόης

  St. Ariston was Bishop of Arsinoe in the region of Paphos in Cyprus at the end of the fourth and beginning of the fifth century. He was known for his miracles and his care for his flock.
