  Timothy of Symbola

  Venerable, Τιμόθεος

  St. Timothy of Symbola was a monk who lived the ascetic life at the monastery of Symbola in Bithynia, in Asia Minor. From his youth he embraced obedience, fasting, and unceasing prayer, and the synaxaria remember him as a vessel of purity who received from God grace to heal the sick and drive away evil spirits.

• Eustathios of Antioch

  Hierarch, Ευστάθιος Αντιοχείας

  St. Eustathios was born in Side of Pamphylia and became Bishop of Beroea and then Archbishop of Antioch. He took a leading part in the First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325, defending the divinity of Christ against Arius.

  St. John was born near Antioch and trained as a lawyer before becoming a priest. He compiled an early collection of the canons of the Church and was raised to the patriarchal throne of Constantinople in the sixth century.

• Zacharias of Jerusalem

  Hierarch, Ζαχαρίας Ιεροσολύμων

  St. Zacharias was Patriarch of Jerusalem when the Persians captured the city in 614. He was taken into captivity together with the Precious Cross and many of the faithful, and consoled his flock through years of exile.

• George of Amastris

  Hierarch, Γεώργιος Αμάστριδος

  St. George was born near Amastris in Paphlagonia to pious parents and became a hermit and later a monk. Against his will he was chosen Bishop of Amastris, where he was known for his charity and his miracles.

• Andrew and Anatolios

  Venerable, Ανδρέας και Ανατόλιος

  Sts. Andrew and Anatolios were disciples of St. Euthymios the Great in the Judaean desert. They followed the way of their elder in fasting, vigil and prayer and reposed in peace in the fifth century.
