Martyrs at the Gate of Eugenios

Finding of the relics of the Holy Martyrs at the Gate of Eugenios in Constantinople.

During the reign of the Emperor Arcadius the incorrupt relics of many unnamed martyrs were found buried near the Gate of Eugenios in Constantinople. Miracles of healing took place at their discovery.

Tradition relates that among them were the relics of the Apostle Andronikos and his companion Junia, and a church was built over the site.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Martyrs at the Gate of Eugenios is commemorated on February 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 7 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
