Holy Passion-Bearers Boris and Gleb, princes of Rus'.
Sts. Boris and Gleb were sons of St. Vladimir of Kiev who, after their father's death in 1015, refused to raise arms against their elder brother Svyatopolk, though he sought their lives. They accepted death in the spirit of Christ rather than shed the blood of their kin.
They were the first saints glorified in Rus' and are honored as passion-bearers.

On the New Calendar, Boris and Gleb is commemorated on July 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 6 of the civil calendar.
