Claudius and Hilaria

Holy Martyrs Claudius the Tribune, his wife Hilaria and their sons Jason and Maurus.

St. Claudius was a tribune in Rome who was charged with the torture of Sts. Chrysanthos and Daria. Moved by their steadfastness and by the miracles he witnessed, he came to faith in Christ together with his wife Hilaria, their sons Jason and Maurus, and many of his soldiers.

Claudius was drowned in the sea, his sons and soldiers were beheaded, and Hilaria, who went to pray at their graves, was seized and died a martyr. The Church keeps their memory with Chrysanthos and Daria on March 19.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Claudius and Hilaria is commemorated on March 19. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 1 of the civil calendar.
