  Chrysanthos and Daria

  Martyr, Χρύσανθος

  Sts. Chrysanthos and Daria were martyrs of Rome in the third century. Chrysanthos, the son of a pagan noble, came to faith in Christ through the reading of the Scriptures; when his father arranged his marriage to Daria, a learned pagan woman, Chrysanthos won her to the faith, and the two lived in purity, devoting themselves to prayer and to bringing others to Christ.

• Claudius and Hilaria

  Martyr, Κλαύδιος και Ιλαρία

  St. Claudius was a tribune in Rome who was charged with the torture of Sts. Chrysanthos and Daria. Moved by their steadfastness and by the miracles he witnessed, he came to faith in Christ together with his wife Hilaria, their sons Jason and Maurus, and many of his soldiers.

• Pancharios the Martyr

  Martyr, Παγχάριος

  St. Pancharios was a Christian of Germanicia in Asia Minor who served at the court of Diocletian in Nicomedia. Tradition relates that out of fear he at first denied Christ, but that a letter from his mother and sister brought him to repentance; he confessed the faith before the emperor and was beheaded.

• Diodoros and Marianos

  Hierarch, Διόδωρος

  Sts. Diodoros the presbyter and Marianos the deacon are martyrs of the early Church commemorated together in the Greek synaxaria on March 19. Tradition relates that they were shut up in a cave and died there for their confession of Christ.

• Demetrios Tornaras

  Martyr, Δημήτριος ο Τορναράς

  St. Demetrios Tornaras was a New Martyr of the Ottoman period. Tradition relates that he was accused before the Turkish authorities and, when pressed to accept Islam, refused and was beheaded in Constantinople in 1564.

• Innocent of Komel

  Venerable, Ιννοκέντιος

  St. Innocent was a monk of the Kirillov monastery who became a disciple of St. Nilus of Sora and accompanied him on his journey to Mount Athos. Returning to the north of Russia, he founded a skete in the forest of Komel near Vologda, living according to the way of hesychast prayer taught by his elder.
