Pancharios the Martyr

Holy Martyr Pancharios of Nicomedia.

St. Pancharios was a Christian of Germanicia in Asia Minor who served at the court of Diocletian in Nicomedia. Tradition relates that out of fear he at first denied Christ, but that a letter from his mother and sister brought him to repentance; he confessed the faith before the emperor and was beheaded.

The Church keeps his memory on March 19.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Pancharios the Martyr is commemorated on March 19. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 1 of the civil calendar.
