Damaris of Athens

Saint Damaris of Athens, converted by the preaching of the Apostle Paul on the Areopagus.

Damaris is named in the Acts of the Apostles among those who believed when Paul preached at the Areopagus in Athens, together with Dionysios the Areopagite.

She is honored as one of the first Christians of Athens, and later tradition regards her as a woman of learning who helped spread the Gospel in the city.

On the New Calendar, Damaris of Athens is commemorated on October 3. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 16 of the civil calendar.
