Dionysios I of Constantinople

Saint Dionysios I, Patriarch of Constantinople.

Saint Dionysios was a disciple of Saint Mark Eugenikos and became Patriarch of Constantinople twice in the fifteenth century, in the difficult years after the fall of the City. He was slandered and deposed but vindicated, and later withdrew to the Eikosifoinissa monastery.

He reposed there in peace, and his relics are venerated at the monastery.

On the New Calendar, Dionysios I of Constantinople is commemorated on November 23. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 6 of the civil calendar.
