Epiphanios and John, Patriarchs of Constantinople

Saints Epiphanios and John the Cappadocian, Archbishops of Constantinople.

Saint John the Cappadocian and his successor Saint Epiphanios governed the Church of Constantinople in the early sixth century, in the reigns of Justin and Justinian. Both laboured to restore communion with Rome after the Acacian schism.

They reposed in peace and are commemorated together.

On the New Calendar, Epiphanios and John, Patriarchs of Constantinople is commemorated on August 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 7 of the civil calendar.
