  Return of the Relics of Bartholomew

  Apostle, Βαρθολομαίος

  This feast commemorates the translation of the relics of the Holy Apostle Bartholomew, one of the Twelve, who preached the Gospel in eastern lands and completed his apostolic course as a martyr. According to tradition, his relics, placed in a coffin and cast into the sea by persecutors, were carried by the waves and received with honor by the faithful, coming at last to the island of Lipari.

  Chrysostomos the New of Florina

  Hierarch, Χρυσόστομος ο Νέος Φλωρίνης

  St. Chrysostomos the New, Metropolitan of Florina, was a hierarch and confessor of the twentieth century. A learned and ascetic bishop, he took up the leadership of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece who held to the traditional church calendar, and for this confession he endured deprivation, censure, and exile, bearing all with patience and meekness.
