Titus the Apostle

Holy Apostle Titus of the Seventy, first Bishop of Crete.

Saint Titus was a native of Crete and a disciple and companion of the Apostle Paul, who addressed to him one of the Pastoral Epistles. Paul left him in Crete to organize the Church there, and he became its first bishop.

He reposed in old age at Gortyna and is the patron saint of Crete.

On the New Calendar, Titus the Apostle is commemorated on August 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 7 of the civil calendar.
