Euthymios of Rhodes

Hieromartyr Euthymios, Metropolitan of Rhodes.

Saint Euthymios was Metropolitan of Rhodes in the seventeenth century. Tradition relates that he was imprisoned and tormented by the Ottoman authorities for his defence of his flock and died in confinement.

He is honoured by the Church of Rhodes as a hieromartyr.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Euthymios of Rhodes is commemorated on August 9. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 22 of the civil calendar.
