Holy New Martyr George of Sofia, burned for the faith.
St. George was a young Christian of Sofia in Bulgaria who lived under Ottoman rule. Tradition relates that he was pressed to accept Islam and, refusing steadfastly, was burned to death in 1515.
He is numbered among the New Martyrs of Bulgaria, and his memory is kept on March 26.
