Golinduch of Persia

St. Golinduch of Persia, named Maria in baptism, confessor.

St. Golinduch was the wife of a Persian magus who came to believe in Christ and was baptized with the name Maria. For her faith she endured years of imprisonment and torments under the Persian king.

Tradition relates that she was miraculously delivered and ended her life in peace in the Byzantine lands.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Golinduch of Persia is commemorated on July 13. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 26 of the civil calendar.
