St. Nikodemos was a monk of Serbian and Greek descent who lived on Mount Athos and then founded the monasteries of Vodita and Tismana in Wallachia in the fourteenth century. He organized monastic life in the Romanian lands on the Athonite pattern.
He reposed in 1406 and is honored as a father of Romanian monasticism.

Venerable Nikodemos was a monk of Mount Athos of Serbian origin who in the fourteenth century founded the monasteries of Vodita and Tismana in Wallachia, establishing organised monastic life in the Romanian lands. He reposed in peace in 1406 and is honoured by the Church of Romania.
