Hyakinthos of Amastris

Holy Martyr Hyakinthos of Amastris.

St. Hyakinthos was a Christian of Amastris on the Black Sea who cut down a tree venerated by the pagans. For this he was tortured and put to death.

He is commemorated as a martyr of the early Church.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Hyakinthos of Amastris is commemorated on July 18. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 31 of the civil calendar.
