Hyginus of Rome

St. Hyginus, Bishop of Rome in the second century.

St. Hyginus was Bishop of Rome in the middle of the second century, a Greek by birth according to tradition. He guided the Roman Church during a time of heresies and persecution and is remembered as a martyr in some accounts.

He is commemorated on January 11.
