Michael of Klops

Venerable Michael the Fool-for-Christ of the Klops Monastery near Novgorod.

St. Michael of Klops was a fool-for-Christ of the fifteenth century who, tradition relates, was of princely family but concealed his origin and lived at the Klops Monastery near Novgorod in extreme humility. He was granted the gifts of prophecy and miracles.

He reposed in peace and is commemorated on January 11.

On the New Calendar, Michael of Klops is commemorated on January 11. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 24 of the civil calendar.
