Iakovos of Evia

Venerable Iakovos Tsalikis, abbot of the monastery of Saint David in Euboea, glorified in 2017.

Saint Iakovos Tsalikis was born in Asia Minor in 1920 and came to Euboea as a refugee child. He became a monk at the monastery of Saint David the Elder, where he served as abbot for many years, living in great asceticism and known for his humility, discernment and the healings worked through his prayers.

He reposed in 1991 and was glorified by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2017.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Iakovos of Evia is commemorated on November 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 5 of the civil calendar.
