John Koulikas

Holy New Martyr John Koulikas, who was impaled for Christ.

John Koulikas was a Christian who, in the sixteenth century, was accused before the Ottoman authorities and urged to embrace Islam. He refused and confessed Christ.

Tradition relates that he was impaled and so received the crown of martyrdom.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, John Koulikas is commemorated on April 8. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 21 of the civil calendar.
