Pausilypos of Heraclea

Holy Martyr Pausilypos, who suffered at Heraclea in Thrace under Hadrian.

Pausilypos confessed Christ at Heraclea in Thrace during the reign of the emperor Hadrian in the second century. He was scourged with iron rods and handed over for further torment.

Tradition relates that he escaped his bonds but died soon afterward of his wounds, receiving the martyr's crown.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Pausilypos of Heraclea is commemorated on April 8. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 21 of the civil calendar.
