New Martyr Jordan of Trebizond, who suffered in Constantinople.
St. Jordan came from Trebizond in Pontus and settled with his family in Galata in Constantinople. When a Muslim companion mocked St. Nicholas, Jordan answered with a bold word in defence of the saint and was denounced for insulting Islam.
He refused every offer to save his life by changing his faith and was beheaded in Constantinople in the seventeenth century.
