Joseph the New of Partos

St. Joseph the New of Partos, Metropolitan of Timisoara.

St. Joseph was born in Dalmatia in the sixteenth century and became a monk on Mount Athos, where he lived for many years at Vatopedi and other monasteries. In old age he was made Metropolitan of Timisoara in the Banat and later withdrew to the monastery of Partos, where he reposed.

He is honored by the Romanian Church and is commemorated on September 15.

On the New Calendar, Joseph the New of Partos is commemorated on September 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 28 of the civil calendar.
