Kallinikos of Edessa

Saint Kallinikos, Metropolitan of Edessa, Pella and Almopia.

Saint Kallinikos Poulos was Metropolitan of Edessa in northern Greece in the twentieth century, remembered for his simplicity of life, pastoral zeal and love for the poor. He reposed in 1984.

He was numbered among the saints by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2020.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Kallinikos of Edessa is commemorated on August 8. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 21 of the civil calendar.
