Kallinikos Patriarch of Constantinople

Saint Kallinikos, Patriarch of Constantinople and confessor.

Saint Kallinikos was Patriarch of Constantinople at the end of the seventh century. He refused the demand of the Emperor Justinian II to bless the demolition of a church and was later blinded and exiled to Rome by the same emperor.

He reposed in exile and is honoured as a confessor.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Kallinikos Patriarch of Constantinople is commemorated on August 23. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 5 of the civil calendar.
