Konon the Gardener

Holy Martyr Konon the Gardener of Pamphylia.

St. Konon the Gardener was a Christian of Nazareth who lived in Pamphylia, tending a garden and living simply from his labor. During the persecution of Decius he was arrested and, when he refused to sacrifice, nails were driven into his feet and he was forced to run before the governor's chariot until he collapsed.

He died praying, and the Church honors him on March 5, together with his namesake Konon of Isauria.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Konon the Gardener is commemorated on March 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 18 of the civil calendar.
