Lot of Egypt

Venerable Abba Lot of Egypt, one of the Desert Fathers.

Abba Lot was a Desert Father of Egypt in the fifth century whose sayings are preserved in the Paradise of the Fathers. Best known is his exchange with Abba Joseph, who told him that if he wished, he could become all flame.

He reposed in peace and is honored among the venerable fathers.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Lot of Egypt is commemorated on October 22. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 4 of the civil calendar.
