Methodius of Peshnosha

Venerable Methodius, abbot of Peshnosha, a disciple of Saint Sergius of Radonezh.

Saint Methodius was one of the first disciples of Saint Sergius of Radonezh. With his teacher's blessing he founded a monastery on the river Peshnosha, near Dmitrov, and led it in the tradition of Saint Sergius until his repose in 1392.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Methodius of Peshnosha is commemorated on June 4. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 17 of the civil calendar.
