Mitros of Tripolis

New Martyr Mitros (Demetrios) of Tripolis in the Peloponnese.

Mitros, a form of the name Demetrios, was a young Christian of the Peloponnese who, tradition relates, was falsely accused and pressured to accept Islam by the Turks of Tripolis. Refusing, he was put to death for Christ in 1794.

He is honored among the New Martyrs of the Peloponnese.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Mitros of Tripolis is commemorated on May 28. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 10 of the civil calendar.
