New Martyr Nikolaos of Mytilene, martyred in Constantinople.
St. Nikolaos was born in Mytilene on Lesbos and worked in Constantinople. Tradition relates that after being falsely accused and pressed to accept Islam, he confessed Christ and was beheaded in 1771.
He is commemorated on January 16.
