Great Martyr Photini the Samaritan Woman, Equal-to-the-Apostles, who spoke with Christ at the well.
St. Photini is the Samaritan woman of the Gospel of John who met Christ at Jacob's well and, having received from Him the living water, brought her whole city to believe in Him. After Pentecost she preached the Gospel in many lands together with her sons and sisters.
Tradition relates that she was brought before the Emperor Nero in Rome, converted his daughter, and after many tortures was thrown into a well, receiving the crown of martyrdom in the first century.
