Platon of Banja Luka

Hieromartyr Platon, Bishop of Banja Luka, murdered in 1941.

Platon Jovanovic was a Serbian hierarch who became Bishop of Banja Luka in Bosnia. When the Ustasha regime came to power in 1941 he refused to abandon his flock.

He was arrested, tortured and killed, his body thrown into the river Vrbas. He is honoured as a hieromartyr of the Serbian Church.
