Platon of Estonia

Hieromartyr Platon, first Bishop of Estonia, and the New Martyrs of Estonia.

St. Platon was consecrated Bishop of Reval in 1917, the first Estonian bishop of the Orthodox Church. In January 1919 he was arrested by the Bolsheviks in Tartu and shot together with priests and laypeople of the city.

He is commemorated on January 14 together with the New Martyrs of Estonia.

On the New Calendar, Platon of Estonia is commemorated on January 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on January 27 of the civil calendar.
