Holy Hieromartyr Polychronios the Presbyter, slain by the Arians at the altar.
Polychronios was the son of a farmer in Gamphanitos who worked as a vine-dresser in Constantinople and lived in fasting and prayer. Tradition relates that his master, seeing his holiness, gave him gold with which he built a church; he was ordained priest and was present at the First Ecumenical Council.
In the reign of Constantius he was seized by Arians and cut down at the holy table while celebrating the Divine Liturgy.

On the New Calendar, Polychronios the Hieromartyr is commemorated on October 7. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 20 of the civil calendar.
