Holy Myrrhbearer Salome, mother of the Apostles James and John.
Salome was the wife of Zebedee and mother of the Apostles James and John. The Gospels count her among the women who followed Christ and ministered to Him, and who went to the tomb with myrrh on the morning of the Resurrection.
She is honoured with the other Myrrhbearing Women and is remembered separately on this day.

On the New Calendar, Salome the Myrrhbearer is commemorated on August 3. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 16 of the civil calendar.
