Stachys of Hierapolis

Saint Stachys, Bishop of Hierapolis, ordained by the Apostle Bartholomew.

According to the synaxarion of Saint Nikodemos, after the martyrdom of the Apostle Philip at Hierapolis, his companion the Apostle Bartholomew ordained Stachys as bishop of that city.

He is commemorated together with the Apostle Philip.

On the New Calendar, Stachys of Hierapolis is commemorated on November 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 27 of the civil calendar.
