Venerable Theoktistos, fellow ascetic of St. Euthymios the Great in the Judean desert.
St. Theoktistos was the companion and fellow ascetic of St. Euthymios the Great in the wilderness of Judea in the fifth century. Together they found a cave in a ravine near the Dead Sea, where a monastery grew up around them; when Euthymios withdrew to deeper solitude, Theoktistos remained as abbot and spiritual father of the brethren.
He reposed in great old age, honored by all the monks of Palestine, and is commemorated on September 3.
