Ursula the Virgin

Holy Virgin Martyr Ursula of Cologne and her companions.

Ursula was, according to tradition, a British princess who with a company of virgins was martyred by the Huns at Cologne while returning from a pilgrimage to Rome. The Church honors her among the virgin martyrs of the West before the schism.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Ursula the Virgin is commemorated on October 21. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on November 3 of the civil calendar.
