Vsevolod-Gabriel of Pskov

Right-believing Prince Vsevolod, in baptism Gabriel, wonderworker of Pskov.

St. Vsevolod, grandson of Vladimir Monomakh, ruled Novgorod and later Pskov in the twelfth century. He was known for his justice, his generosity to the poor and his building of churches, including the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Pskov.

He reposed in 1138 and is venerated as the heavenly protector of Pskov.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Vsevolod-Gabriel of Pskov is commemorated on February 11. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 24 of the civil calendar.
