  Floros and Lavros

  Martyr, Φλώρος και Λαύρος

  Sts. Floros and Lavros were brothers, stonemasons by trade, who labored in Illyricum in the early centuries of the Church. Hired to build a pagan temple, they gave their wages to the poor, and when the work was done they gathered the poor together, overturned the idols, and consecrated the building to Christ. For this they were put to death, according to tradition cast into a well.

  Saint Arsenios was born in Ioannina in 1800 and became a disciple of Saint Gregory of Paros. He served as spiritual father of the Convent of the Transfiguration on Paros, where he was renowned for his gifts of prayer and discernment.

• George and John, Patriarchs of Constantinople

  Hierarch, Γεώργιος και Ιωάννης Κωνσταντινουπόλεως

  Saints John and George were successive patriarchs of Constantinople in the reign of Constantine Pogonatos. George presided during the Sixth Ecumenical Council, which condemned the Monothelite heresy.
