• Anastasios the Confessor

  Hierarch, Αναστάσιος

  St. Anastasios was a hierarch of the Church of Jerusalem who bore the title of confessor, one who suffered for the faith without denying Christ. The synaxaria preserve little of his life beyond his faithful witness in a time when the Church was tried by heresy and persecution.

• Kodratos of Corinth

  Martyr, Κοδράτος

  St. Kodratos was born near Corinth in the third century, raised, according to tradition, in the wilderness after the death of his mother, and later educated in medicine. He gathered a group of Christian companions, and during the persecution of Decius they were brought before the governor of Corinth, tortured and beheaded.

• Anastasia the Patrician

  Holy Woman, Αναστασία η Πατρικία

  St. Anastasia was a noblewoman of Constantinople in the sixth century who fled the court of the emperor Justinian to escape the jealousy of the empress. She founded a convent near Alexandria, and later, disguised as a eunuch monk, lived for many years in a cave in the desert of Skete under the guidance of Abba Daniel.

• Markianos the Martyr

  Martyr, Μαρκιανός

  St. Markianos was a martyr whose name the Greek synaxaria record for March 10 with the note that he was stoned to death for his confession of Christ. Nothing further of his life has been preserved.

• Agathon the Venerable

  Venerable, Αγάθων

  St. Agathon was one of the desert fathers of Egypt whose sayings are preserved in the Apophthegmata. He was known for his discernment, his silence and his love for his neighbor, and tradition relates that he once said he wished he could give a leper his own body in exchange.

• Michael Mavroudis

  Martyr, Μιχαήλ Μαυρουδής

  St. Michael Mavroudis was born in the village of Granitsa in Agrapha and worked as a baker in Thessaloniki under Ottoman rule. Tradition relates that he was accused of speaking against Islam while talking with a Turkish child, was brought before the judge and, refusing to renounce Christ, was burned to death in 1544.
