  Third Finding of the Head of John the Baptist

  The Church commemorates on May 25 the Third Finding of the honorable head of St. John the Forerunner. According to tradition, the relic had been hidden during the years of iconoclasm; when the veneration of holy things was restored, the head of the Baptist was revealed once more and brought with honor to Constantinople, received by emperor and patriarch amid great rejoicing.

• Innocent of Kherson

  Hierarch, Ιννοκέντιος Χερσώνος

  Innocent Borisov was born in 1800 and became one of the most celebrated preachers and theologians of the Russian Church, teaching at Kiev and serving as Archbishop of Kherson and Taurida. During the Crimean War he ministered fearlessly in besieged Sevastopol and Odessa.
