  The Righteous Job lived in the land of Uz in the age of the patriarchs, a man blameless and upright who feared God and turned away from evil. Tested by the loss of his wealth, his children, and his health, he refused to curse God, saying that the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

• Seraphim of Dombou

  Venerable, Σεραφείμ ο εν Δομπού

  Seraphim was born in Boeotia in the sixteenth century and became a monk in the region of Helicon. After years of solitude he founded the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount Dombou near Levadeia, gathering many disciples.

• Sophia of Kleisoura

  Holy Woman, Σοφία της Κλεισούρας

  Sophia Chotokouridou was born in Pontus in 1883 and came to Greece with the exchange of populations. She settled at the Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos at Kleisoura in western Macedonia, where she lived for decades in the fireplace of the church, in poverty, cold and continual prayer.

  Barbaros was a soldier in the army of Julian the Apostate who, according to the synaxarion, prevailed in single combat and was then discovered to be a Christian. He refused to sacrifice to the gods and was tortured and beheaded, together with Bacchus, Callimachus and Dionysius, who confessed Christ on witnessing his steadfastness.
