New Martyr Akylina of Zagliveri near Thessaloniki, virgin martyr.
St. Akylina was born at Zagliveri near Thessaloniki in the eighteenth century. Tradition relates that her father, having become a Muslim, was pressed to bring his daughter to Islam; raised in the faith by her mother, she refused before the Turkish judge and was beaten to death in 1764, at the age of eighteen.
She is commemorated on September 27.
