Ignatius of the Monastery of the Savior

Venerable Ignatius, abbot of the Monastery of Christ the Savior in Cappadocia.

St. Ignatius was born in Cappadocia in the tenth century and became abbot of the monastery of Christ the Savior called Bathys Ryax, the Deep Stream. Tradition relates that he restored the monastery and was known for his humility and miracles.

He reposed in peace and is commemorated on September 27.

On the New Calendar, Ignatius of the Monastery of the Savior is commemorated on September 27. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on October 10 of the civil calendar.
