Venerable Alypios the Iconographer of the Kiev Caves.
Saint Alypios was a monk of the Kiev Caves Monastery in the eleventh century and one of the first iconographers of Rus. He painted without payment, gave his earnings to the poor and, tradition relates, healed the sick by anointing them with the colours of his palette.
He is honoured as the patron of iconographers.

On the New Calendar, Alypios the Iconographer is commemorated on August 17. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 30 of the civil calendar.
